چکیده

The dipotassium salts of maleic, fumaric and acetylenedicarboxylic acids were electrooxidized and the reaction products were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by UV/VIS and FT-IR spectroscopy. Acetylene, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, along with polyynes, are the products obtained from maleic and fumaric acids. The best acetylene yields are obtained from fumaric acid and not from maleic acid, which gives the highest yield of carbon dioxide. High concentration and high current density lead to the formation of carbonaceous matter containing carbyne recognizable by triple-bond stretching. Anodic oxidation of acetylenedicarboxylic acid produces only a mixture of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and soluble polyynes; no free acetylene was detected. A total of 15 chemical reactions with their free energy were studied to explain the reaction products of anodic oxidation.

Raman Study of the Photochemistry of Maleic Acid Adsorbed on the Surface of Colloidal Silver

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of maleic (cis; 2-butaneoic acid) and fumaric (trans; 2-butaneoic acid) acids adsorbed on aqueous silver sol particles are reported. These two acids form two groups of isomers which differ only in the relative positions of the two carboxylate groups. The photochemistry of maleic and fumaric acids adsorbed on the surface of silver colloids...

Determination of malic acid and other C4 dicarboxylic acids in atmospheric aerosol samples.

An ion chromatographic method was developed which is able to separate five unsubstituted and hydroxy C4 dicarboxylic acids, succinic, malic, tartaric, maleic and fumaric acid, besides the other unsubstituted C2-C5 dicarboxylic acids, oxalic, malonic and glutaric acids, as well as inorganic ions in samples extracted from atmospheric particulate matter. By the application of this method it was fo...

Electrical Interfacial Layer at Hematite/Dicarboxylic Acid Aqueous Interface

The interfacial properties of the system hematite/dicarboxylic acid were investigated in the presence of sodium perchlorate by means of adsorption, zeta potential and surface potential measurements. Maleic and fumaric acid were used as dicarboxylic acids. No significant difference in the surface potential values of hematite with and without the presence of dicarboxylic acids was observed. On th...

Penetration of biomass-burning emissions from South Asia through the Himalayas: new insights from atmospheric organic acids

High levels of carbonaceous aerosol exist over South Asia, the area adjacent to the Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau. Little is known about if they can be transported across the Himalayas, and as far inland as the Tibetan Plateau. As important constituents of aerosols, organic acids have been recognized as unique fingerprints to identify the atmospheric process. Here we measured dicarboxylic acids...

Studies on the biochemistry of Penicillium charlesii. Influence of various dicarboxylic acids on galactocarolose synthesis.

1. It has been shown that Penicillium charlesii continues to synthesize galactocarolose when l-malic acid, malonic acid, succinic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid or oxaloglycollic acid is substituted for dl-tartaric acid in the Raulin-Thom nutrient medium. 2. The quantity of galactocarolose synthesized per g. of mycelia was markedly decreased by substitution of l-malic acid, malonic acid, succi...
